Apple Hill Animal Hospital is sad to announce that our founder Dr. Robert Burge will be leaving us at the close of 2017. He has been a valued and much loved part of our team for the past 41 years. We will miss him and the wonderful care he has provided for so many pets. While we are happy for the next chapter in his life, we’re sad to see him go.

Please join us for an Open House/Farewell Party at Apple Hill Animal Hospital on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 1:30-5:30 pm to wish Dr. Burge a happy retirement!

November 9, 2017

Dear clients, patients and friends,

It seems like just yesterday I graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1971. I have been a veterinarian for 46 years, and for the last 41 years, I have been here at Apple Hill Animal Hospital.

I will be retiring at the end of December 2017. I wanted to take this moment to express my extreme gratitude to all past and present clients, friends and colleagues for this incredible experience. No one can do anything of value alone, and Apple Hill is no exception.

From my kitchen table, to a remodeled old pole barn building, to the new hospital at the front of the property, it has been quite a 41-year journey. I have had so much help along the way. Every client, associate veterinarian, staff member and vendor has had a part in this journey.

I am having a hard time writing this because I have no words to show my true feelings for all the great people I have met along the way. I will not try and name them all because I will surely forget someone, and I do not want that to happen. I say to all, “thank you” from the bottom of my heart!

Apple Hill Animal Hospital will be in good hands. The rest of the staff is still here and will continue to take excellent care of you and your four-legged friends.

To those of you who think, "Thank goodness, he is finally gone" - not so fast! I will still be around to take care of the gardens and the buildings on the grounds of Apple Hill. I may even show up occasionally to fill in for a vet that is on vacation or under the weather.

Bless you all for this wonderful opportunity and allowing me to be part of it.

Robert A. Burge, DVM
